Two-Part Film Set for Release
The highly anticipated film adaptation of the Broadway musical "Wicked" has officially begun production. The two-part film will star Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, with the first part set for release in November 2024.
The musical, which premiered on Broadway in 2003, tells the untold story of the Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz." The film adaptation has been in development for several years, with Jon M. Chu set to direct.
The release of the film's teaser trailer during Super Bowl LVIII on February 11th provided fans with their first glimpse of the movie. The trailer gives a glimpse into the vibrant and magical world of Oz, and hints at the complex relationship between Glinda and Elphaba.
